How Did This Accident Occur?
As a lawyer specializing in accident investigations, the part of this story that jumps out at me is that the Lexus has its autonomous driving system on at the time of this crash.
That technology is meant to be a safety feature, one that can override the driver’s input in certain circumstances, but that depends on it being properly programmed. Even the best programming has shown it sometimes struggles in real-world situations.
The SUV’s systems should be fully checked out to ensure it wasn’t to blame for this accident. That may not be something that local authorities can do, but there are experts available who can provide much-needed answers for the injured Tesla driver and his family.
