Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman

If it’s true alcohol led to this accident, charging the alleged drunk driver may just be the first step of many. For example, did authorities find out where the alcohol came from?

In Texas, alcohol providers, including restaurants and gas stations, can be responsible if they over-serve someone, and it leads to people getting hurt. But if all of the focus stays at the crash scene, those negligent alcohol providers may fly under the radar.

Whether it’s an ordinary member of the public or an officer putting their life on the line to keep our roads safe, victims deserve to know there’s going to be accountability after a crash like this. That includes any accomplices who may not be obvious at the crash scene itself.
