How Did This Accident Occur?
It’s not clear at this point why this Mustang went off the road. Was the driver fatigued or distracted? Did it swerve to avoid another vehicle? Did the car have an issue with its brakes or steering? Those answers should come from the investigation into this crash.
Authorities likely will start their probe by poring over witness statements, physical evidence, data from the Mustang’s engine control module and any available video footage of the crash. Cell phone records could show whether the driver was texting or interacting with an app at the time of the crash, but an outside expect likely will be needed if investigators suspect a mechanical problem contributed to this accident.
Most law enforcement agencies don’t have the time or training to complete a forensic examination of the Mustang, in my experience, but such an exam could provide much-needed answers for the injured driver and his family.
