Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman

When people hear about crashes like this one, it’s easy for them to assume they are a result of simple driver error. However, in my experience, accidents involving multiple vehicles, especially those with semi-trucks, often require thorough investigations to understand all contributing factors.

In this incident, it is crucial to determine what led to the multi-vehicle collision. Was there a sudden stop or slow traffic that set off the chain reaction? Did one of the drivers fail to maintain a safe following distance? Was the semi-truck’s driver distracted, fatigued, or experiencing a mechanical failure? Each of these factors can significantly influence the outcome of such incidents and must be carefully examined.

One critical aspect of this accident is the involvement of a semi-truck. Investigators must assess whether the truck driver adhered to traffic laws and if there were any issues with the truck’s maintenance or load. The condition and maintenance of all vehicles involved also need to be scrutinized. Regular inspections and proper upkeep are crucial for ensuring that vehicles operate safely on the road.

Moreover, the trucking company responsible for the semi-truck may share in the responsibility for the wreck. If the company failed to enforce safety protocols, properly train their driver, or ensure that their vehicle was in good working order, they could be held accountable for their role in the crash. Trucking companies are expected to uphold high standards of safety and maintenance, and any lapses in these areas can lead to devastating consequences.

Ultimately, the goal is to uncover the truth and provide answers to those affected by the crash. Even if it requires conducting an independent investigation to obtain vital evidence, it is crucial to consider every factor to ensure that those impacted by the crash receive the clarity and closure they deserve.
