Lena, IL — July 8, 2024, two people were injured following a multi-vehicle truck accident shortly before 12:45 p.m. along U.S. 20.
According to authorities, the accident took place in the vicinity of the U.S. 20 and S.H. 73 intersection.
The cause of the accident remains unclear. Officials indicate that, for as yet unknown reasons, a collision occurred between an 18-wheeler, a dump truck, and a pickup truck. The pickup truck had reportedly come to a stop resting on its side and one person who had been inside it was entrapped in the wreckage, requiring extrication by emergency personnel. The dump truck had also apparently overturned and landed on its side.
Two people suffered injuries of unknown severity as a result of the wreck; they were transported to local medical facilities by EMS in order to receive necessary treatment.
