How Did This Accident Occur?
There are a lot of unknowns about this crash still, and I certainly don’t want to jump to conclusions. What I will say, though, is that I too often see folks automatically assume motorcyclists are reckless drivers. I know from experience that this is mostly untrue.
A lot of motorcycle riders are very safe drivers. In fact, they have to be safe because drivers in larger vehicles rarely keep a proper lookout for them. It’s possible this was one such time where a driver not checking their mirrors or blind spots merged into the motorcyclists and caused the deadly crash.
Of course, it’s also possible this was just an unfortunate series of unavoidable factors. That’s up to the evidence to say. My hope is just that the investigations are handled by professionals who can gather that evidence without letting any sort of unfair bias get in the way.
