Galveston, TX — May 27, 2024, one person was killed and two were injured following a motorcycle versus truck accident on Gulf Freeway after midnight.
Authorities say the events began some time before the fatal crash in the area of Seawall Boulevard and 41st Street. An initial collision reportedly occurred involving a motorcycle. This led to a passenger on the motorcycle, a 51-year-old woman, being thrown from the bike and suffering serious injuries.

Police say the motorcyclist then drove from the scene. Authorities attempted to pull over the motorcyclist, but a crash occurred between the bike and a wrecker truck along northbound lanes of Interstate 45. The motorcyclist was thrown from the bike, resulting in fatal injuries. It appears the driver of a Toyota Tundra reportedly had moderate injuries.

Right now, details suggest alcohol was a factor in the crash. If that’s true, it could make an already chaotic series of events far more complex. People tend to think alcohol-related accidents are straight-forward. Many of them, though, require more thorough investigations into where the alcohol came from, as there may have been an alcohol provider who illegally over-served the intoxicated driver. That could expose them to consequences, including fines, criminal investigations, and liability for the victims’ resulting injuries. It’s not clear if authorities have even considered all of that yet, which could mean that getting the victims the help they need might require more thorough independent investigations.
