Accident Report

February 27, 2026, a motorcyclist was injured due to a car accident shortly after 11:45 p.m. along Interstate Highway 635.

According to authorities, a 35-year-old man was traveling on a southeast bound Honda motorcycle on I-635 in the vicinity southeast of Skillman Street when the accident took place. Officials indicate that, for reasons yet to be confirmed, the motorcycle failed to appropriately control its speed. A collision consequently occurred between the motorcycle, a Toyota Camry, and Ford F-150 pickup truck.

The motorcyclist reportedly sustained serious injuries over the course of the accident. Additional details pertaining to this incident—including the identity of the victim—are not available at this point in time. The investigation is currently ongoing.

How Did This Accident Occur?

Most people will look at this accident and jump to the conclusion that the motorcycle rider is to blame. I, however, am not so quick to make that assumption. I’ve been doing this job for over three decades. In that time, I’ve analyzed hundreds of motorcycle-involved accidents. I feel like motorcyclists generally get a bad rap. I’ve seen plenty of cases where the investigation turns up evidence of things that were not immediately apparent which went against the grain of the stereotype.

To be clear, I don’t know more about this specific accident than anyone else outside of the investigation. I just want to point out that, hypothetically, something could have gone wrong with the motorcycle itself to cause the accident. If it was not controlling it speed as it should have been, then maybe it was experiencing a throttle issue. If the throttle gets stuck in the open position, then the engine continues to get fuel and maintains its speed—or even accelerates—despite the lack of input from the rider. While not super likely, I’d say that this scenario is well within the realm of possibilities.

Hopefully the authorities who are in charge of investigating this accident are being as meticulous and openminded as they should be. Getting a vehicle inspection done on the motorcycle would either rule out or bring to light any mechanical issues that played a role in the wreck. If, for one reason or another, the authorities don’t take that step, then a third party investigation can always get one, instead. That way, all the bases are covered.

After all, the young motorcycle deserves to have real answers backed by solid evidence as he heals from this ordeal, not vague assumptions based on surface level investigation that just saddles him with possibly unmerited blame.
