Accident Report
April 16, 2026, a motorcyclist was injured due to a car accident just after 9:15 p.m. along Farm to Market 1626.
According to authorities, a 35-year-old man was traveling on an eastbound Harley-Davidson motorcycle on F.M. 1626 at the Twin Creek Road intersection when the accident took place. Officials indicate that, for as yet unknown reasons, the motorcycle allegedly attempted a left turn without yielding to oncoming traffic. A collision consequently occurred between the Harley-Davidson and the front-end of an oncoming Toyota Tacoma.
The motorcyclist reportedly sustained serious injuries as a result of the collision. It does not appear that anyone else was hurt. Additional details pertaining to this incident—including the identity of the victim—are not available at this point in time. The investigation is currently ongoing.
How Did This Accident Occur?
When it comes to car accidents involving motorcycles, many people are quick to point the finger at the motorcyclist. After over thirty years in this line of business, however, I’ve come to think that motorcyclists get a bad rap. I’ve seen plenty of motorcycle-involved cases over the years in which evidence that went against the grain of the stereotype ended up being unearthed by the investigation. It’s because of that that, no matter how things appear on the surface, I hesitate to jump to conclusions.
To be clear, I’m not implying that I know more about this specific accident than anyone else outside of the investigation should. I just want to point out that, hypothetically, the accident could have been caused by something other than driver error. What if, for example, the motorcycle was experiencing brake failure? What about a throttle issue? Has a tire blowout been considered? Motorcycles, after all, are complex machines, even if they are smaller than passenger vehicles.
An in-depth vehicle inspection done by trained professionals in a laboratory setting would be able to pinpoint any mechanical malfunctions or product defects that played a role rather than allowing them to fly under the radar. Hopefully investigators—whether the authorities or a third party—get one done. In the end, the people affected by this accident deserve real answers backed by solid evidence. Vague assumptions based on surface-level investigation just won’t cut it.
