Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman
There are certain kinds of crashes which can be challenging simply due to how little attention they get and how quickly people jump to conclusions. Single-vehicle accidents and motorcycle accidents are among the most egregious examples of these kinds of accidents. A lot of people will just assume the driver must have done something wrong. People obviously make mistakes, but there are other possibilities that need to be investigated. Were there mechanical issues? Road hazards? Other reckless drivers who left the scene? A tire blowout? Likely or not, those are the kinds of things I’d expect to see following an independent accident reconstruction. From authorities alone, there aren’t many department who prioritize accident reconstruction highly enough to dig that deep. It remains to be seen if such efforts were ever made here.
