How Did This Accident Occur?
Any single-vehicle crash is going to raise red flags for things like distracted driving and unsafe speeds. The issue is that when the vehicle is a motorcycle, a lot of people just assume that’s guaranteed. A lot of folks think the worst of motorcyclists, and this bias can lead to faulty conclusions.
I’ve actually had to correct police reports in the past after authorities jumped to conclusions and got facts wrong because they let their bias against motorcyclists get in the way of gathering clear evidence. Maybe police are being more careful here—that would certainly be good to know. It’s just not something I’d ever taken for granted seeing how often riders get unfair treatment unless there’s someone working to ensure they get fair treatment.
Do you agree that the public perception of motorcyclists is fair? Let me know why or why not in the comments.
