As open-and-shut as these details may seem, it’s always important to be sure investigators are preserving as much evidence as possible. That’s especially true with motorcycle wrecks in particular.

Insurance companies always look for footholds to muddy the waters and shift responsibility away from themselves. Since a lot of people have a negative bias against motorcyclists, any gaps in the story present opportunity to try to exploit that bias and blame the victim. But if there’s a solid foundation of facts telling the victim’s side of the story, those exploits won’t find footing.

As such, if it seems authorities worked hard to preserve evidence here, that would be good to hear. However, if they only did a basic, surface-level investigation, there may be more to this story that still needs to be brought to light.
