How Did This Accident Occur?
Even though authorities haven’t said why they think this crash happened, I’m sure a lot of folks are already jumping to conclusions. Maybe they just figure a teenage driver must have been driving recklessly. Or, maybe it’s the motorcycle that will lead some folks to blame the victim here.
To be clear, I would never suggest a victim can’t make a mistake that leads to an accident. But until the evidence is clear, no one should jump to conclusions. Otherwise, they’re just risking blaming someone for something they couldn’t avoid—which is something I’ve seen plenty. Even if some possibilities seem unlikely, it’s important to consider them so nothing important slips through the cracks.
Either authorities can show they’re doing that here, or independent investigators may need to step in before evidence starts to slip through the cracks.
