Accident Report

March 25, 2026, a man was injured due to a motorcycle accident just after 4:00 a.m. along the I-2 frontage road.

According to authorities, a 38-year-old man was traveling on an eastbound Harley-Davidson motorcycle on the I-2 frontage road in the vicinity east of the Chester Park Road intersection when the accident took place. Officials indicate that, for as yet unknown reasons, the motorcycle allegedly failed to control its speed. It was consequently involved in a single-vehicle collision in which it apparently struck a concrete traffic barrier.

The man reportedly sustained serious injuries over the course of the accident. Additional details pertaining to this incident—including the identity of the victim—are not available at this point in time. The investigation is currently ongoing.

How Did This Accident Occur?

When it comes to single-vehicle motorcycle accidents, most people are content to simply point the finger at the rider and call it a day. I have a different perspective, though, having been in this business for over three decades. I honestly think that motorcyclists get a bad rap. Over the years, I’ve seen plenty of similar accidents in which evidence ended up being unearthed by the investigation that went against the grain of the stereotype.

To be clear, I’m not saying that I know more about this specific accident than anyone else outside of the investigation. I just want to point out that, hypothetically, something could have gone wrong with the motorcycle to cause it to be unable to control its speed. What if, for example, it was experiencing brake failure? Or perhaps the throttle somehow got stuck in the open position? An in-depth vehicle inspection would be able to bring to light any mechanical malfunctions or product defects that played a role which might otherwise have flown under the radar.

Keep in mind that inspections like that—done by trained professionals in a laboratory setting—are not routinely done in most accident investigations, so a special request might have to be made. If the authorities do not take that step, then a third party investigation can always get one done, instead. That way all the bases are covered. After all, the people affected by this accident deserve to be given a clear and detailed understanding of how and why it occurred. Vague assumptions based on surface-level investigation just won’t cut it.
