Accident Report
Dallas, TX — May 27, 2026, Mohammad Obeidat was killed in an alleged drunk driver accident at about 12:30 a.m. on Interstate 635/Lyndon B. Johnson Freeway.
Authorities said a tow truck operator was loading a disabled vehicle when a pickup crashed into his truck. The pickup overturned after the collision.
The operator, Mohammad Obeidat, died from injuries suffered in the crash, according to authorities.
The pickup driver, a 53-year-old man, was charged with intoxication manslaughter after police noted his slurred speech, bloodshot eyes and an odor of alcohol on his breath, authorities said.
Authorities have not released any additional information about the Dallas County crash at this time.
How Did This Accident Occur?
Drivers are supposed to move over when there is an emergency vehicle, like a tow truck, on the road, but that obviously didn’t happen in this instance. This accident seems relatively straight forward, but is still warrants investigation. The primary question investigators should try to answer is where the pickup driver had been drinking before this crash.
Under Texas law, alcohol providers can share responsibility for injuries caused by someone who was served while obviously intoxicated. I’m not saying that is what happened before this accident, but it is worth looking into so the tow truck operator’s family will know everyone who may have played a role in this crash.
