Lubbock, TX — March 9, 2024, Mistrang Ndikum was killed as the result of a pedestrian versus vehicle accident at 2:28 a.m. along 4th Street.
Lubbock Police officials say they responded to the area of the 4th Street and Flint Avenue intersection following the accident.

It appears that 38-year-old Mistrang Ndikum was walking at the time. Ndikum was apparently in the center lane of westbound 4th Street when a vehicle going around construction barrels in the right lane hit him. As a result, Ndikum sustained fatal injuries. Authorities did not report any charges or citations. Additional factors remain unconfirmed.
Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman
With pedestrian accidents like this, it’s important not to jump to conclusions. They’re not always as simple as folks think. For example, authorities explain this happened in an area with construction barrels diverting traffic. Now, that alone doesn’t necessarily mean anything. But sometimes, construction areas can be put together poorly such that they unreasonably impede travel or create a dangerous environment.
Is that something investigators looked into? Maybe it is, and maybe authorities know everything there is to know here. I certainly hope that’s the case. If not, there may need to be more thorough investigations. The priority is getting the victim’s loved ones the answers they deserve. That can’t happen if investigators let things slip through the cracks.
