Accident Report

May 24, 2026, Miriam Rich and one other were injured after a car accident that happened at around 9:30 a.m. on FM 1960.

Authorities said in preliminary statements that the accident took place in the area of the FM 1960 Road and Houston Avenue intersection.

It appears that 61-year-old Miriam Rich was in a Chevy Spark going northbound on Houston Avenue. A Chevy Silverado was going westbound on FM 1960. Officials say that the Silverado ran the light, and the vehicles collided.

Miriam Rich reportedly had serious injuries while the 28-year-old woman from the Silverado had moderate injuries. Authorities recommended charging the Silverado driver for running the light. No further information is available at this time.

How Did This Accident Occur?

Usually when I see accidents involving a driver run a light, investigations will eventually show that alcohol, speeding, fatigue, or just plane recklessness led to the accident. I would expect any decent accident investigation to start there. However, I also expect investigations to rule out factors even if they seem unlikely.

For example, did the light malfunction at all? The answer is probably no, but it’s up to the evidence to say that. Otherwise, something important could slip through the cracks, or there could be a gap in the story that would only make things more challenging for victims affected by the crash. So, if authorities have looked into all of that, that would be good to hear. If not, though, then it wouldn’t be unreasonable to have independent investigators take another pass over the evidence and see if officials missed anything important.
