Accident Report

May 26, 2026, Miranda Tovar and three others were injured after an alleged intoxicated driver accident at around 3:45 a.m. along I-35W.

According to initial details about the crash, it happened at the I-35W and Highway 121 interchange along northbound lanes.

It appears that 25-year-old Miranda Tovar was with another woman and two children in a Chevy Equinox going northbound on I-35W. A 53-year-old woman was in a Nissan Juke reportedly driving the wrong-way. As a result, the vehicles collided.

Due to the accident, Miranda Tovar and the other woman in the Chevy had serious injuries. One of the children and the alleged wrong-way driver had moderate injuries.

Authorities allege that the wrong-way driver was intoxicated at the time of the accident, and they recommended a DWI charge. Additional details are unavailable at this time.

How Did This Accident Occur?

If the allegations are true here, then it would not at all be surprising to hear that an intoxicated driver caused this accident. That’s almost always the reason drivers get on the wrong side of the road. What’s important to clarify, though, is if drugs or alcohol were the intoxicant. Here’s why that matters.

The consequences legally for a crash involving a driver on drugs don’t typically require investigations beyond the crash scene. Alcohol, on the other hands, may extend far beyond the crash scene to a local alcohol provider. If evidence shows that a local alcohol provider unlawfully over-served someone, and that led to a serious accident, then both the alleged drunk driver and the negligent alcohol provider may have to answer for their role in the crash.

Too often, authorities focus all of their efforts on the alleged intoxicated drivers, and they might overlook other important factors. If that’s happened here, there might still be an accomplice to this crash who needs to be held accountable. It wouldn’t be right to just move on without investigators sorting that out.
