How Did This Accident Occur?
A U-turn is an inherently risky move for semi-trucks, so much so that many trucking companies bar their drivers from even attempting the maneuver. This crash means some scrutiny of the trucking company that employed this driver is warranted.
Did the company adequately screen and train this driver? Does it encourage its drivers to make U-turns to stay on schedule? Do its drivers have a history of causing accidents like this?
These questions should be addressed during the investigation so the fallen motorcyclist’s family knows as much as possible about this crash and who may be responsible for it.
