UPDATE (February 19, 2024): The man who lost his life as a result of this accident has been identified as 42-year-old Miguel Mosqueda, of Pearland.
Montgomery County, TX — February 13, 2024, one person was killed in a single-car accident at approximately 5:45 p.m. along Interstate Highway 45.
According to authorities, a 42-year-old was traveling in a southbound Maserati in the HOV lane of Interstate Highway 45 when the accident took place.
Officials indicate that the vehicle may have been traveling at speeds upwards of 100 miles per hour leading up to the crash. The Maserati reportedly failed to safely maintain its lane of travel. It allegedly lost control, going into a skid and leaving the roadway altogether as it entered a grassy median. There, it struck a tree at speeds high enough to split the vehicle into two pieces.
Despite the life-saving measures that were taken, the victim was unable to overcome the injuries they incurred during the accident. They were declared deceased at the scene.
