When authorities seem to have an obvious at-fault driver in their sights, people generally think everything from there is open-and-shut. However, people need a lot of evidence telling their side of the story in order to get a fair resolution. Simply having someone to blame doesn’t mean much unless backed by cellphone records, analysis of the crash scene, vehicle data, vehicle inspections for defects, video footage from nearby businesses or homes, witness testimony, etc. As they say, it’s not what you know; it’s what you can proof. Insurance companies can only do so much in the face of overwhelming evidence.
