How Did This Accident Occur?
When an accident happens at an intersection like this, it’s usually because one vehicle failed to yield to the other. Authorities likely will be able to figure out which one pretty quickly, but their investigation also needs to figure out why.
Was one of the drivers distracted or dealing with a medical emergency? Did one of these vehicles have a problem with its brakes or steering mechanism? I don’t claim to know the answer to these questions, but in my experience a full investigation should be able to clear things up.
Cell phone records could show what each driver was doing before the crash, but it likely will require some outside expertise to confirm if there was a medical or mechanical issue at work here. These are areas that police don’t have much expertise in, but the injured woman and her family deserve to know as much as possible about what happened on Rusk Street.
