How Did This Accident Occur?
The most common reasons why single-vehicle accidents happen are unsafe speeds, distracted driving, and fatigue. However, I’m much more used to seeing these crashes late at night or early in the morning. This happened during a clear day just before noon. That makes me wonder if something unusual or unavoidable led to the crash.
For example, did a tire blow out? That may seem like something that would be easy to determine. However, a driver suffering serious injuries may leave them unable to speak to the authorities, and police don’t often have the tools or training to tell if a tire ruptured due to the crash or if it ruptured and caused the crash. So, preliminary reports like these might not catch a blowout until there’s a more thorough secondary examination.
That’s just one possible example for people to consider. Preliminary reports can overlook all kinds of things, especially if the victim hasn’t had a fair chance to tell their side of the story. Hopefully steps are taken behind the scenes to give the victim that chance and make sure the full story comes to light.
