Fort Worth, TX — May 21, 2024, Mia Strauss and two others were injured following a car accident around 2:20 a.m. on Highway 114.
According to initial details about the accident, it happened in the area of Highway 114 and Labonte Lane.

Investigators said that 22-year-old Mia Strauss and two others were in a Nissan car going southbound on Labonte. A Lexus was going eastbound when it crashed into the Nissan. As a result, Mia Strauss and another passenger in the Nissan were injured.
The driver of the Lexus reportedly was injured, as well. Authorities allege that driver was inattentive. Further information is unavailable.
Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman
People tend to think situations like this are resolved once authorities blame someone for the crash. In reality, there’s often a lot more to the story than just that. Did investigations ever go beyond those surface-level details?
1. Did the investigators have the tools and training to properly examine the crash?
The wreck happened at a cross-street intersection in the early morning hours. That kind of scenario often requires careful scene mapping, evaluation of sight lines, and confirmation of speeds and reactions. If those steps weren’t taken, the conclusions may have been based on incomplete information.
2. Were the vehicles inspected for any mechanical issues that could have contributed?
Inattention may have played a role, but it’s also possible that one of the vehicles had a malfunction—brake failure, steering issues, or another system fault—that prevented proper control. Without inspecting the vehicles, that possibility would have been easy to overlook.
3. Was any electronic data from the vehicles collected and preserved?
Speed, braking, and steering input data could have confirmed or challenged what witnesses reported. That kind of evidence is often decisive, but only if someone moved quickly to retrieve it.
Sometimes, a deeper dive simply rules out other complex possible factors. Other times, it brings to light new information that the victims involved need to know about. My hope is that authorities here were thorough enough that everyone involved felt confident they were getting the whole story.
Takeaways:
- It’s unknown whether the investigation included a full reconstruction of the scene.
- A mechanical issue may have contributed and should have been ruled out.
- Electronic data could have clarified what really happened—if it was preserved.
