A Meta, Missouri, man and woman were in a Honda CR-V going southbound on the highway. A Freightliner semi-truck was going northbound. While the Honda reportedly attempted to make a turn, the truck crashed into it.

How Did This Accident Occur?

A vehicle making a turn and being struck by an oncoming vehicle is usually a typical outcome of someone possibly failing to yield. However, I always caution against jumping to conclusions when investigations are still as early as these are. For all we know, this crash involved something unusual or unavoidable. Even a poorly designed road with improper signage or missing road markings can lead to a crash that may otherwise involve more common factors. Hopefully authorities consider all of these possible factors, but it wouldn’t be unusual if getting the full story required input from independent professionals who could dedicate more time and resources to less common possibilities.
