How Did This Accident Occur?
It’s not clear at this time what caused this crash. Was the Dodge speeding? Did the GMC slow or stop unexpectedly? Did the Dodge have an issue with its brakes or steering mechanism? Authorities must address questions like this to get to the bottom of what happened on I-20.
Investigators will scrutinize physical evidence, witness statements, vehicle data and available video footage as they work to reconstruct this crash. Cell phone records could show what each driver was doing at the time, but a qualified expert should examine the vehicles in a laboratory setting if authorities suspect a mechanical problem contributed to this crash.
Most law enforcement agencies do not have the time or training for such inspections, in my experience, but the Dodge driver and her family deserve to have a clear picture of what caused this crash.
