Accident Report
May 10, 2026, Mehmet Gire and Gabriela Irizarry Rivera were injured following a car accident at 8:36 p.m. on Woodlands Parkway.
Authorities said in preliminary statements that the crash happened at the intersection of Woodlands Parkway and Panther Creek Drive.
Investigators said that 20-year-old Mehmet Gire was in a Mazda 3 going southbound. 23-year-old Gabriela Irizarry Rivera was in a Nissan Sentra going westbound. A Ford Expedition was going southbound, as well. At the intersection, the vehicles crossed paths and collided.
Due to the crash, both Mehmet Gire and Gabriela Irizarry Rivera sustained serious injuries. No other injuries were reported. At this time, additional details are unavailable.
How Did This Accident Occur?
With any car accident at an intersection, there are going to be common concerns to investigate. Distracted driving is probably the most obvious one, which is why checking cell phone data is about the first thing I expect from any accident reconstruction I’m a part of. That said, it’s important investigations are thorough enough to consider all kinds of other possible factors.
Even something unusual, like missing signage or a malfunctioning stop light, should be considered. At worst, it can just rule out other possibilities so the story has a better foundation of facts. At best, it can help ensure nothing unusual slips through the cracks. In my experience, that’s generally what gives people the best results after a serious crash. I don’t see any reason right now why this crash would be an exception.
