Medina County, TX — October 6, 2025, Maurice McGowan was killed as the result of a work accident that happened around 10:00 a.m. off County Road 683.
Investigators said that the accident occurred at the “Cinco Project” data center construction project.
According to officials, 28-year-old Maurice McGowan was working on the site when it appears an articulating truck somehow struck him. Due to this, Maurice McGowan was killed.
There did not appear to be any other injuries. The factors surrounding the accident are unclear.

With this being a work accident, it’s important for people to understand that Texas work fatality laws are the most complex of any other state in the country. Simply put, there is not always a guaranteed path for a worker’s loved ones to get the benefits they need. And even in situations where benefits are guaranteed, they don’t always rise to the level necessary for the severity of a given accident. As such, these situations generally need a lot more than a standard report from authorities to get a worker’s loved ones a fair resolution. That usually requires taking steps early to find out what exact went wrong and paths may be available to the family.
