Mitchell, IN — February 14, 2024, Matt Harakal was killed while Bill Luttrell was injured in a bus versus SUV accident at around 3:00 p.m. along Teke Burton Drive.
According to authorities, the accident took place at the intersection of North Teke Burton Drive and Spice Valley Road.
The causal factors that led to the accident are still unclear. Officials indicate that the bus—occupied by Bill Luttrell—may have crossed N. Teke Burton Drive at Spice Valley Road at an unsafe time, resulting in a T-bone collision between the front end of an SUV—occupied by Matt Harakal—and the drivers side of the bus.
Both Luttrell and Harakal reportedly incurred critical injuries as a result of the accident. They were each flown to an area hospital in order to receive immediate treatment. However, Harakal was ultimately unable to overcome his injuries, having later been declared deceased.
