Bell County, TX — June 19, 2024, Martin Zuniga Jr. and two others were injured following a car accident at around 1:45 a.m. along I-35.
According to officials, the accident took place along northbound lanes of the interstate just south of Salado.

Investigators said that 63-year-old Martin Zuniga Jr. was driving a Chevy Suburban along I-35 when the vehicle lost control. It went to the right shoulder, then veered left and crashed into the barrier. This caused the vehicle to then overturn.
As a result of the crash, Zuniga sustained serious injuries. A teenager and a 57-year-old man in the vehicle had possible injuries, as well. Right now, no further details can be confirmed.
Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman
When it comes to single-vehicle wrecks, it might surprise people how often authorities brush aside the investigations. These aren’t the highest priority for a lot of departments, so officers may not be given the right tools to do the job or are perhaps moved to other responsibilities before they’ve completed their investigations. Well, when unusual and complex circumstances lead to a serious accident, a shoddy investigation like that is bound to let something slip through the cracks. It’s unfortunately something I get far too many calls about that could easily be avoided with proper accident reconstruction.
