How Did This Accident Occur?
It’s not clear at this point what caused this crash. Did one vehicle ignore a traffic signal? Was one driver distracted, perhaps by a cell phone? Did one of these vehicles have an issue with its brakes or steering mechanism? These are the kind of questions that authorities much consider as they investigate this accident.
Vehicle data, physical evidence, witness statement and any available video footage will help investigators reconstruct this crash, while cell phone data can show if either driver was texting or interacting with an app at the time. A forensic examination of the vehicles will be necessary if authorities think a mechanical problem played a role in this accident.
In my experience, an outside expert will be needed for that since most law enforcement agencies do not have the time or training for such inspections.
This investigation should provide those grieving this crash with a clear picture of what happened at this intersection.
