Accident Report
March 28, 2026, Markisha Wheeler was injured due to a car accident just before 3:45 p.m. along State Highway 30.
According to authorities, 35-year-old Markisha Wheeler was traveling in an eastbound Dodge Hornet on S.H. 30 at the Westridge Drive intersection when the accident took place. Officials indicate that, for as yet unknown reasons, a westbound Chevrolet Suburban attempted a left turn onto Westridge Drive without yielding the right-of-way to oncoming traffic. A collision consequently occurred between the right side of the Suburban and the front-end of the Hornet.
Wheeler reportedly sustained serious injuries over the course of the accident. It does not appear that anyone else was hurt. Additional details pertaining to this incident are not available at this point in time. The investigation is currently ongoing.
How Did This Accident Occur?
At first glance, this accident seems to be a cut-and-dried case of driver error. Most people wouldn’t consider that there could have been reasons behind the Suburban’s timing that have nothing to do with the driver. I only bring this up because, over the last three decades I’ve been in this line of business, I’ve seen plenty of investigations turn up evidence of underlying mechanical malfunctions or product defects that were not immediately apparent.
To be clear, I don’t know more about this accident than anyone else outside of the investigation. I just want to suggest a hypothetical. What if the Suburban was dealing with throttle issues or brake failure at the time of the wreck, and that was why it allegedly failed to yield? An in-depth vehicle inspection done by a trained professional in a laboratory setting would be able to either rule that out or bring it to light.
Hopefully, the investigators working on this accident—whether the authorities or a third party—get that step done. After all, the people affected by this accident deserve to have a detailed picture of how and why it happened, not just vague assumptions based on surface-level investigation.
