How Did This Accident Occur?
It’s not clear at this point what caused this Toyota to leave the road. Was the driver distracted or fatigued? Was he swerving to avoid an object in the road? Did the car have a problem with its brakes or steering mechanism? These questions must be addressed as authorities work to reconstruct this accident.
Investigators can find answers by digging into witness statements, physical evidence, cell phone records, data from the Toyota’s engine control module and any available video footage of the crash.
They likely will have to turn to an outside expert to conduct a forensic examination of the Toyota if they suspect a mechanical issue contributed to the crash, because in my experience most law enforcement agencies don’t have the time or training for the kind of inspection needed.
A thorough investigation, though, is the best way to sort out what happened on Middlebrook Drive and provide answers to the injured driver and his family.
