Accident Report
Midland County, TX — June 21, 2026, Jose Portillo and Maria Mauricio were killed and Christopher Grado was injured in a car accident at about 9:30 p.m. on F.M. 715 south of Midland.
A preliminary accident report indicates that a 2005 Chevrolet Colorado was heading west on East County Road 140 when it allegedly ran a stop sign and collided with a northbound 2000 Chevrolet Silverado. The Silverado did not have working headlights, according to the report, while visibility at the intersection was obstructed by trees, shrubs and weeds.
Colorado driver Jose Ruiz Portillo, 66 and passenger Maria Angelica Beltran Mauricio, 61, died from injuries suffered in the crash, the report states.
Silverado driver Christopher Leigh Grado, 46, of Midland was seriously injured, according to the report.
Authorities have not released any additional information about the Midland County crash at this time.
