Accident Report

May 25, 2026, Maria Espinoza De Chapa was injured as the result of a car accident that happened around 10:35 p.m. along Central Blvd.

According to initial details about the accident, it happened at the intersection of Central Boulevard/Business 77 and Boca Chica Boulevard.

Officials said that 51-year-old Maria Espinoza De Chapa and two others were in a northbound Ford. A white Chevy Silverado was going the same direction when it reportedly failed to control speed. An accident occurred, following which the Silverado reportedly left the scene.

Maria Espinoza De Chapa reportedly sustained serious injuries. It’s unclear if authorities ever identified the runaway driver. Additional details are unavailable.

How Did This Accident Occur?

A driver failing to control speed is often something simple like driving while distracted, going too fast, or following too closely. That said, a late night hit-and-run often involves something more serious. Alcohol, for example, is a common reason that drivers flee accident scenes, and it could easily explain a crash like this. Of course, finding out for sure if that happened means locating the runaway driver. If authorities have yet to do that, are they able to give more information to the public? Someone in the community is bound to connect the dots and help point authorities in the right direction. I remain hopeful that continued efforts will yield results for those affected by this crash.
