Brown County, TX — March 2, 2024, Maria Caldera and one other person were injured in a car accident just after 6:30 p.m. along Austin Avenue, F.M. 2524.
According to authorities, 30-year-old Maria Caldera was traveling in a southwest bound Dodge Durango SUV on Idlewild Drive attempting a legal left-hand turn onto Austin Avenue when the accident occurred.
Officials indicate that a northwest bound GMC Sierra pickup truck occupied by a 53-year-old man on Austin Avenue failed to stop for the red light indicated by the traffic signal, entering the intersection at an unsafe time. This resulted in a collision between the front-end of the pickup truck and the back left side of the Durango.
Caldera incurred suspected severe injuries as a result of the accident. The man from the pickup truck reportedly sustained moderate injuries as well. They were each transported to local medical facilities in order to receive necessary treatment.
