Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman

One can only hope that the family got more information about what happened here than what little is available to the public. However, it would surprise people how often families were left with just as many questions as the rest of us. OSHA has their own priorities to worry about, and they don’t always go out of their way to look out for the needs of a worker’s loved ones. That usually requires independent professionals coming in, doing their own investigations, and navigating the maze that is Texas work fatality law. So while one can hope the victim’s family have received the answers and the help they deserve, it’s important to understand that those things tend to only come once the family actively seeks them out.
