Coryell County, TX — March 2, 2024, Madison Ann Roedler, Aiden Lavka, and one other were injured following a car accident just before midnight along Highway 9.
According to preliminary information about the crash, it happened along the highway just off of North 1st Street outside of Copperas Cove.
It appears that 19-year-old Madison Roedler was a passenger in an Audi being driven by 19-year-old Aiden Lavka. They were reportedly going westbound on the highway when an oncoming Toyota Scion apparently went left of center and crashed into the Audi.

As a result, Roedler and the driver of the Toyota reportedly had serious injuries. Lavka’s injuries were described as moderate.
Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman
While additional details can’t be confirmed right now, authorities said the driver of the Toyota may have been drinking. If that’s true, I would hope work is happening behind the scenes to see that driver charged if appropriate. But those investigations would also need to include finding out where the driver got the alleged alcohol.
Folks rarely consider alcohol-related crashes beyond the drivers involved, but bars and other alcohol providers play a big role in most drunk driving incidents. They over-serve customers well beyond what’s safe or reasonable, and that sort of behavior opens them up to consequences, including criminal investigations, liability, and fines or other penalties.
My hope is the relative lack of information about this crash is due to authorities withholding information while they diligently conduct their investigations. In my experience, though, it’s unfortunately more likely that there are details being overlooked.
