Accident Report

April 20, 2026, Lynn Davies and nine others were injured after a car accident at 11:24 a.m. along Highway 123.

Preliminary information about the accident says that it happened a few miles north of Karnes City near the San Antonio River crossing.

According to officials, 65-year-old Lynn Davies and a 64-year-old woman were in a Hyundai Santa Fe going southbound along the highway. A Chevy Suburban was going northbound. Authorities say that the Chevy failed to control speed, and the two vehicles crashed as a result.

Due to the crash, Lynn Davies, the passenger in the Hyundai, and two occupants from the Chevy had serious injuries. Six others from the Chevy had non-life-threatening injuries. Authorities recommended charging the Chevy driver. No additional details are available at this time.

How Did This Accident Occur?

Authorities seem to believe failure to control speed led to this crash, but that leaves other unanswered questions. If that allegation is true, was it due to distracted driving? Was the driver intoxicated? Are they an inexperienced driver? Did some kind of medical condition impede their driving? Or, is this a big misunderstanding, and something unusual led to the crash?

It might surprise folks just how often preliminary investigations from authorities leave these kinds of questions up in the air. I speak to families all the time who are weeks or months removed from a crash still looking for answers. The reality is not every department prioritizes accident reconstruction, so important information can slip through the cracks—that is unless another set of eyes is looking things over and acting as a safety net to catch those details.

Hopefully steps are taken here to keep all the important details in the light so they get proper attention. In the meantime, if anyone has theories on what happened here, share them in the comments.
