Accident Report

March 23, 2026, Luke Haan was injured as the result of a truck accident which occurred around 7:30 a.m. along County Road 49.

According to initial reports, the crash happened southwest of Cold Spring. Authorities say that 24-year-old Luke Haan was in a Chevy Express van going along eastbound lanes of the roadway. While doing so, the van crashed into the back of a box truck stopped along the side of the road.

Due to the collision, Luke Haan reportedly was injured. No other injuries were reported. At this time, additional details are unavailable.

How Did This Accident Occur?

People generally see a rear-end collision like this and figure distracted driving is the most likely culprit. Frankly, that’s true, and it wouldn’t be unusual to that happened here. But a picture of the crash scene raised some questions that could make this a more complex situation.

In the photo, it appears that the box truck is protruding into the lane of travel and only partially on the shoulder. Was the truck pushed there due to the crash, or is that where it was when the crash occurred? Because a commercial truck sticking out into traffic would significantly change the story here—especially on eastbound lanes at sunrise when approaching drivers would likely have a hard time seeing an obstacle ahead.

If anybody witnessed the crash or passed by the scene and can clear this detail up, leave a comment with what you saw.
