Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman
I always have concerns whenever I see a crash involving teen drivers. Frankly, authorities have a tendency to jump to conclusions, and their investigations can end up rushed and shoddy. It shouldn’t be too much to ask that everyone behind the wheel gets an equal amount of grace regardless of their age. Investigations should always be as thorough as possible, even ruling out things like possible defects or road design issues, to ensure those affected at least know they’re getting the whole story.
Maybe authorities were thorough with their investigations into this crash. However, I’ve been in this line of work for over 30 years, and I learned a long time ago never to take that for granted. One of the most important lessons one can learn is to make sure the evidence speaks for itself. Right now, these initial statements only leave questions about whether or not authorities did that here.
