Accident Report

March 21, 2026, Luis Perez was injured as the result of a car accident that happened around 9:06 p.m. along Central Expressway.

Authorities said that the crash happened along the northbound side of the road off the I-45 and I-30 interchange.

According to officials, 28-year-old Luis Perez was reportedly on a Yamaha motorcycle going along northbound lanes of South Central Expressway. Authorities say a multi-vehicle collision involving another motorcycle and a Chevy Malibu somehow occurred. Due to the accident, Luis Perez sustained serious injuries.

There did not appear to be any other confirmed injuries. Investigations are ongoing.

How Did This Accident Occur?

My hope is that people won’t immediately assume that the motorcyclists did something wrong here. A lot of folks see motorcyclists as reckless daredevils, so they may jump to conclusions before any of the actual evidence is clear.

I actually had a case a while back where the police jumped to conclusions. An inexperienced officer completely mishandled the investigations and blamed a motorcyclist for a crash they couldn’t actually avoid. We had to show a thorough independent accident reconstruction of our own to get them to correct the record.

To be clear, there are obvious times where motorcyclists make mistakes. But it’s just as likely this happened due to a reckless motorcyclist as it is that the driver of a car pulled out in front of the rider after not checking to ensure the path was clear. The point is that the evidence needs to tell that story, and it’s important for victims and families to be certain investigators are leaving their bias at the door.
