How Did This Accident Occur?
Authorities likely are focused on finding the hit-and-run vehicle and its driver at this point. Some aspects of a typical accident investigation, like gathering witness statements and available video footage, could help in that search, but authorities can’t download vehicle data until it is located.
The crash investigation may be hampered until the suspect vehicle is found, but that shouldn’t stop someone from pushing for an in-depth inspection of the Nissan to determine if it was designed to properly protect against a rollover accident. Many vehicles are designed to pass the government’s rollover test, but not necessarily to keep their occupants safe. That warrants an inspection by a qualified expert.
