A crash this severe is going to require careful and prompt accident reconstructions. That may seem obvious to point out, but here’s why it can actually be very challenging.
A lot of folks still think that just means waiting for police to do their investigations. However, not a lot of departments prioritize accident reconstruction highly enough to provide officers with the time and equipment that independent accident reconstructionists have. As a result, important evidence sometimes slips through the cracks not because officers aren’t good at their jobs but because they simply lack the resources to do the job properly.
That’s why it can be important for victims and families to follow up early on with authorities. If it seems authorities can address all concerns thoroughly and show they’re doing good work, that can be reassuring. But if their answers start to come up short, it may be time to have independent investigators step in and pick up the slack.
