Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman
With a situation like this, my main concern is if the accident will get the attention it deserves. Frankly, a lot of people are quick to overlook pedestrian accidents or otherwise jump to conclusions. But there are plenty of factors to go over.
What were road conditions? Is the area poorly lit or missing signage? Was alcohol a factor? Was there some kind of emergency going on? Did authorities pull cellphone records, both from the victim and the driver?
Likely or not, it’s important these and other factors get close attention from experienced investigators. At the end of the day, someone lost their life. Their loved ones deserve to know there will be clear answers.
