Accident Report
April 12, 2026, Leah Castro was injured as the result of a car accident that happened around 12:28 p.m. along Heritage Boulevard.
Authorities said in preliminary statements that the accident happened near the intersection of Heritage Boulevard and Gilmer Road.
According to officials, a 62-year-old man and 60-year-old Leah Castro was in a Ford Edge going westbound along Heritage Blvd. A Toyota Tundra was going southbound. Authorities say that the Tundra failed to control speed, and the vehicles collided.
Due to the accident, Leah Castro was seriously injured. There did not appear to be any other injuries. Additional details about the accident are unavailable.
How Did This Accident Occur?
Authorities here say a teen driver failed to control speed, leading to the crash. That wouldn’t be surprising, given that teens are prone to mistakes. However, my hope is that authorities aren’t letting that distract them too much from a proper investigation. Just because teens are likely to make mistakes doesn’t mean that’s what happened. For all we know, the Tundra’s brakes failed. Or maybe the pickup was exiting a business lot that had obstructed visibility to overgrowth or poorly planned road design. It’s up to the evidence to say for sure. Either authorities can gather that evidence, or independent investigators will have to step in and pick up the slack.
