How Did This Accident Occur?
A traffic citation is not the final word on this crash. It’s just one officer’s initial take on the accident. A full investigation should reveal the full story of what happened on State Highway 153.
Did the truck swing into the oncoming lane because its load was unbalanced? Was the construction zone too narrow to accommodate both vehicles? Did either vehicle have a problem with its steering mechanism? These questions should be addressed as authorities work to reconstruct this crash.
Investigators likely will pore over witness statements, physical evidence, data from the vehicles and any available video footage. Cell phone records could show what each driver was doing at the time, but an outside expert may be needed for a forensic examination of the vehicles if authorities suspect a mechanical issue contributed to this accident.
Most law enforcement agencies do not have the time or training for such inspections, in my experience, but the injured people and their family deserve to know as much as possible about what cased this accident.
