Around June 26, 2026, one person was killed following a work accident that took place along Wheeler Street.

I certainly don’t know anything more about this accident than what officials have said—which obviously isn’t a whole lot. It’s not unusual for an OSHA report to have so few details about the actual accident. I get calls all the time from families who have lost a loved one on the job. A lot of them call precisely because they’re not getting the answers they deserve. At the end of the day, OSHA has their own priorities, and they don’t necessarily align with helping families navigate Texas work fatality laws (which just so happen to be the most complex of any other state in the country).

What tell folks is pretty simple. If authorities can give you the answers you need, then that’s generally a sign they’ve done good, thorough investigations. If they can’t, then it’s worth considering bringing in an outside perspective that focus more on the family’s needs. I don’t see any reason right now why this incident would be an exception to that.
