Polk County, TX — May 28, 2024, Lance Dodson was killed and one other person was injured in a head-on car accident at approximately 12:30 p.m. along U.S. 190.
According to authorities, 53-year-old Lance Dodson was traveling in a westbound Nissan Versa on U.S. Highway 190 in the vicinity southeast of Walding Road when the accident took place.

The weather and road conditions in the area at the time were reported to have been rainy and wet. Officials indicate that, possibly due to traveling at unsafe speeds for weather and road conditions, a Ford Freestyle SUV occupied by a 67-year-old man made a faulty evasive action when the car which had been traveling in front of it on U.S. 190 slammed on its breaks. The Ford reportedly swerved to the left in order to avoid colliding with the rear-end of the other eastbound car; however, this led the Ford to enter the westbound lanes of the highway, resulting in a head-on collision with the Nissan Versa.
Dodson suffered reportedly fatal injuries as a result of the wreck; the man from the Ford incurred severe injuries, as well, according to reports. He was transported to a local medical facility by EMS in order to receive necessary treatment.
Additional details pertaining to this incident are not available at this point in time. The investigation is currently ongoing.
