Accident Report

February 25, 2026, Lamel Robinson was injured in a single-car accident at approximately 1:45 a.m. along U.S. Highway 287.

According to authorities 25-year-old Lamel Robinson was traveling in a southeast bound Jeep Wrangler on U.S. 287 in the vicinity southeast of the F.M. 59 intersection when the accident took place. Officials indicate that, for as yet unknown reasons, the Jeep failed to safely maintain its lane of travel. It was consequently involved in a single-vehicle collision in which it apparently struck an embankment.

Robinson reportedly sustained serious injuries over the course of the accident. Additional details pertaining to this incident are not available at this point in time. The investigation is currently ongoing.

How Did This Accident Occur?

I’ve been in this line of work for over thirty years. In that time, it seems I have developed somewhat of a pet peeve. I find it annoying when the cause of an accident is listed as “failure to maintain lane of travel”. Can we agree that that is not a cause? It is a symptom. What investigators need to do is find out what led to the lane deviation?

Could human error have played a role? Sure. It happened in the dark hours of the early morning. It’s not outside of the realm of possibilities that Robinson was fatigued. However, I’ve had the opportunity to analyze hundreds of single-vehicle car accidents. I’m not about to jump to the conclusion that the driver was the problem when I’ve seen plenty of similar cases where the investigation turned up evidence that proved otherwise.

Hopefully, the authorities who are in charge of this investigation are being thorough and openminded. An in-depth vehicle inspection done on the Jeep by a trained professional will be able to bring to light any underlying mechanical malfunctions or product defects—such as steering issues or tire blowout—that might otherwise have flown under the radar.

If, for whatever reason, the authorities investigation seems shortsighted, a third party investigation can always step in to take up the slack. That way all the bases are covered. After all, as Mr. Robinson works toward healing from his injuries, he deserves to have real answers backed by solid evidence, not convenient excuses that simply saddle him with possibly unmerited blame.
